I once read a study that said that people experience more joy while planning trips —— i.e. comparison pricing flight and hotels; researching places to eat and things to see, etc —— than actually going on the trip. I don't know if I agreed at the time and I'm similarly unsure right now, but I understood. There is something very special about planning out pleasure/leisure time. There is something special about building an experience (and series of experiences), in a place removed from your day-to-day reality. There is something special about finding a venue for your particular brand of sickness.

Maybe you're the kind of person who wants to see if they can time layovers perfectly (somehow this always involves O'Hare). Maybe you're the kind of person who wants to wait as long as possible so that you can luck into a last minute deal (you know, a person who gets off on pain). Me, I like doing the Tetris for a certain amount of time but after it gets past that amount of time I freak the fuck out and shut down.

Remember that wall I was talking about earlier? I'm splattered on that motherfucker like Wile E. Coyote because I swear to God Shammgod it was a tunnel a second ago.

Anyway, to make a long story short(er), we're planning a trip across the pond. My Dutch friend is getting married and my partner and I are planning on taking the dress code —— Italian chic x spring colours, and I look good as hell in pastels —— to its logical end. And then to its illogical and vaguely insane end.

More to come, but for now I'm going to go trawl the wares over at Ye Olde Poshmarke and watch more hoop.

Stay frosty.
